Before now, it hadn’t been advised to add varnish to uncoated paper. That’s because it can be counter-productive. Like a sponge, uncoated stock simply absorbs the varnish. The first pass would have very little effect and a second and third might be needed, making varnishing uncoated stock costly and time ineffective.
But thanks to our partnership with renowned Italian paper manufacturer Fedrigoni, you can now achieve the look you’ve been hoping for. Fedrigoni has produced a specially formulated, coated stock that has the look and feel of an uncoated paper. Its fine clay coating doesn’t disturb the paper’s coarse texture and it enables a varnish to be applied to its surface without it being absorbed into the sheet. Specify Fedrigoni Stucco Old Mill to your printer and we’ll do the rest.
