Celloglas’ Managing Director to Cycle 1150 Miles for Prostate and Melanoma Cancer Charities!
Celloglas’ Managing Director, Richard Gillgrass, along with 3 other keen golfers from West Yorkshire are undertaking a 1150 mile cycle challenge this September in support of Prostate Cancer UK and Melanoma UK.
They will be taking to the saddle for the ‘Tour de Ryder Cup’, cycling a route which takes in all thirteen Ryder Cup host venues in England, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland. As part of their nine day challenge, they aim to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK and Melanoma UK, as well as raise awareness of the two diseases.
They will be setting off on 15th September, arriving at Gleneagles for the start of this year’s Ryder Cup tournament on 23rd September, and will be supported throughout by their friend Mark Heptonstall who will simultaneously act as their tour manager, roadie, fitness coach and tea boy!
The ‘Tour de Ryder Cup’ was inspired by the death of their mutual friend Simon Ashdown, also a passionate golfer who, aged fifty, lost his battle with cancer in December 2012. Their epic road trip is being entirely self-funded and the guys are keen to hear from potential sponsors interested in supporting the tour and its twin cancer charities.
