Mirri at RetailEXPO 2019
It’s been a busy couple of months for Mirri. We’ve been hard at work behind the scenes in preparation for exhibiting at RetailEXPO, Europe’s leading retail solutions show. Here, we take a look back at the two-day event and explain why it was such huge success for our ever-growing brand.
The design and build
RetailEXPO took place at London’s Olympia on May 1st and 2nd and brought the UK’s three leading retail shows – Retail Business Technology Expo (RBTE), Retail Design Expo (RDE) and Retail Digital Signage Expo (RDSE) – together under one roof. This phenomenal event served to provide insight, preview the latest retail technology innovations and offer design inspiration to help brands unlock their true creative potential, enhance customer experience and drive performance. With a conference programme presented by leading retailers and brands and an arena full of inspiration, RetailEXPO provided the perfect platform to exhibit Mirri and demonstrate its unrivalled, attention-commanding qualities.
Mirri is always innovating in a bid to bring brands the most stunning luxury products to elevate packaging and marketing material. And with conversation around sustainability in the industry at an all-time high, we wanted to appeal to eco-conscious brands and demonstrate how a move toward more environmentally friendly products needn’t mean compromising aesthetics or quality. Keen to maximise the eco and botanicals theme, we decided on stand design that was reminiscent of rainforests and succulent gardens and the beauty found there. The result was a living wall of large leaves and insects that brought our allotted space to life.
Putting Mirri in the spotlight
Our stand of greenery was made up of Mirri Lens Circles, Mirri emerald green and Mirri Oyster Prisma for a stunning, lifelike finish. We also used Mirri Eco, the world’s first large-format, eco-friendly metallic product to offer big-impact messaging that stunning materials can still be considerate of our planet. The leaves were made up of varying stocks (ranging from 160mic to 420mic) and weights to achieve different movement as visitors walked by and this ensured the leaves were realistic.
The appearance of raindrops on the leaves was produced with Mirri Lens Circles, which is a print registered pattern that gives a 3D curved effect. This product is ideal for packaging and large backdrops but we were excited to show just how effective it can be when used in creative design. Meanwhile, the insects were supplied by Dutch creative brand Assembli and made use of Mirri Silk. They provided the bursts of colour to really add life to our leaves.
We were thrilled with how the stand turned out after months of planning and hard work – it was a real talking point for anybody who walked by. The two-day exhibition meant we were able to talk with a number of premium brands and it was a fantastic opportunity to show them first-hand how versatile and impacting Mirri can be.
Key takeaways of RetailEXPO 2019
As for the speakers at the event, we were particularly interested in the panel session. Here, key industry players considered how brands can evolve in-store communications and displays in a bid to drive sales and consumer engagement. They discussed the potential for blending the lines between point of purchase and digital communications while remaining as sustainable as possible. Mirri Eco is a prime example of how this can be achieved.
Plus, it was great to hear from Smyths Toys’ creative director Kevin McArthur about the need for consistent omnichannel creative experiences. Whether it’s online interactions, direct mail or in-store POS, a consistent and coherent brand story and customer experience is crucial.
